¡i©ú³ø±M°T¡jAll eyes are on the CE race. Under the Basic Law, only certain people are eligible to the office of CE.

Article 44 of the Basic Law provides that the CE shall be:

¡» a Chinese citizen not younger than 40 years old who is

¡» a permanent resident with no right of abode in any foreign country and has continuously resided in Hong Kong for not less than 20 years.

Article 47 of the Basic Law provides that the CE must be a person of integrity, dedicated to his or her duties.

Under the "2012 constitutional reform package" (2012 ¬F§ï¤è®×), a person must be nominated by no fewer than 150 of the 1,200 Election Committee (¿ïÁ|©e­û·|) members before he can be a CE candidate.
